“Friday is always my day to start Champs. Lots of entertainment from the stands and the action on the track heats up,” said a fan, who reveals she was cheering for Calabar High School (an all boys HS) to win the boys title this year.

Jamaica is world-known for it’s sprinting and most of the country’s top sprinters, including world record holder Usain Bolt, Olympic and World champions Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce and Veronica Campbell-Brown, all got their starts at these championships.

This is why, come Friday night, all eyes will be fixed down the straight-away, where the boys and girls 100m final, for all classes, will take place.

There is a lot of hype surrounding the Class One Boys decider with a host of sprinters targeting the Yohan Blake’s age group meeting record.

Youngster Christopher Taylor will also race in the 400m, as he target lowering his own Class Three record of 48.71, set on the first day.
