LONDON, Sporting Alert – Champions League live TV Channels, Game Times and Matchups for Matchday 6 on Wednesday, December 9. Wednesday’s final round of group fixtures will see two EPL side, Arsenal and Chelsea in action, as well as the defending champions Barcelona.
But unlike Barcelona, who have already qualified for the round of 16, both Arsenal and Chelsea are still hoping to secure passages into the knockout phase and will be hunting wins.
In Group G at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will take on Porto in a top of the group clash as both teams try to land the top spot from the group. A draw would be enough to take Jose Mourinho’s side through to the next round, but a defeat could end the EPL side’s hope if Dynamo Kyiv were to beat Maccabi Tel Aviv.
In all honesty, Chelsea need to avoid defeat, as Maccabi Tel Aviv have not won a single group game this season and are expected to go down against Dynamo Kyiv on the road.
Mourinho also needs a win on Tuesday, as Chelsea are not doing so well in the league and the Blues boss needs to offer some kind of comfort to the club owner who remains on his side despite the poor results.
In Team News: Diego Costa returns to the starting lineup for Mourinho’s side, but Cesc Fabregas and Pedro are both on the bench. John Terry also starts, with Gary Cahill named as a substitute. Ramires, Nemanja Matic, Willian, Oscar and Eden Hazard all start.
Chelsea team to play Porto: Courtois, Ivanovic, Zouma, Terry, Azpilicueta, Ramires, Matic, Willian, Oscar, Hazard, Diego Costa. Subs: Begovic, Cahill, Mikel, Kenedy, Fabregas, Pedro and Remy.
Arsenal, in the meantime, will make a trip to Karaiskakis Stadium to take on Olympiakos Piraeus in their Group F fixtures.
The Gunners are in deep trouble, having collected just six points from five games.
Arsenal need to beat Olympiakos, who are currently sitting second on nine points.
Arsenal team to play Olympiakos: Cech, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Ramsey, Flamini, Ozil, Walcott, Campbell, Giroud. Subs: Ospina, Debuchy, Gibbs, Gabriel, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chambers, Iwobi.
