(Sporting Alert) — Forward Diego Costa is a major doubt for Chelsea as the English Premier League leaders travel to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Costa, the leading goalscorer in the EPL this season, is being bothered by a nagging hamstring problem that has been affecting him in recent weeks.

He played and scored his first goal for Spain in the Euro 2016 4-0 victory over Luxembourg last Sunday, but will have to pass a late fitness test to feature for Chelsea.

German forward Andre Schurrle (illness), midfielder Ramires (groin/pelvis) and forward Didier Drogba (ankle/foot) are also doubtful and face late fitness test as well.

“We have some problems, yes,” Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho confirmed. “Ramires, Drogba, Diego Costa, Schurrle, Mikel, it’s a long list.”

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock, meanwhile, will be without star defender Scott Dann, who has been ruled out of the clash with an MCL knee ligament injury. Adrian Mariappa picked up a knock on international duty with Jamaica, but should be good to go.

Besides that, the hosts head into this contest with a fully fit squad to select from.

Chelsea won four of the past five meetings, but Crystal Palace won 1-0 when these two sides last met in March.

“We lost there last season because they were better than us in every aspect of the game,” Mourinho said.

He added: “This season we have more personality to impose our game. Sometimes you want to impose your style and sometimes you want to adapt to the opponents’ style.

“In their style, Palace are better than us so we have to play our own game.”
