Wisconsin adidas Invitational – Oct. 17, 2014

MADISON, Wis (Sporting Alert) – The sixth annual Wisconsin adidas Invitational, one of the high-profiled collegiate cross country meets in the nation,  is set for Friday at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course.

Race times on Friday will be at 11 a.m. (CT) with the women’s championships race.

Championship Races
• Women’s 6K – 11 a.m.
• Men’s 8K – 11:45 a.m.

“B” Races
• Women’s 6K – 12:30 p.m.
• Men’s 8K – 1:10 p.m.

Several top programs, including No. 9 Wisconsin, will take part in the meet on the men’s side. In fact, the lineups will see six of the country’s top ten teams, and 15 of the top 20 teams facing-off on Friday.

On the women’s side, the race organizers have confirmed that the meet will feature 22 teams which are ranked in the top-30 – with six of those in the top-ten, including No. 2 Michigan State, No. 5 Arkansas, No. 6 Stanford, No. 8 Iowa State, No. 9 Florida State, and No. 10 Virginia.

Hosts Wisconsin women are ranked No. 15 in the latest poll, but are hoping to put in a good performance in the push to break into the top ten.

The No. 9 Wisconsin men’s team will be competing against the likes of No. 3 Northern Arizona, No. 5 Portland, No. 6 Syracuse, No. 7 Stanford, No. 9 UCLA.

The defending team champions are Arizona on the women’s side and Northern Arizona on the men’s side.

Both teams return to defend their respective titles.
