Kansas City Chiefs: NFL AFC

KANSAS CITY, Sporting Alert – The following is the Kansas City Chiefs preseason schedule for 2015, with the AFC West hopefuls playing four exhibitions before the start of the NFL regular season.

Andy Reid’s Chiefs team, which opened its preseason campaign with a 34-19 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, Aug. 15, will continue its preparations on Friday, Aug. 21 against the Seattle Seahawks, a game that will broadcast live on the NFL Network channel.

Following that game, Kansas City will remain home at Arrowhead Stadium, for the Week 3 preseason clash against the Tennessee Titans on Friday, Aug. 28, before wrapping up the exhibitions with a short away encounter with the St. Louis Rams on Thursday, Sept. 3.

The Chiefs opened the 2014 preseason fixtures with a 41-39 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but were beaten by Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers in their next three games.

That bad form was also carried over into the regular season last year, as Kansas City dropped its opening two games and three of its first five.

Reid, although citing that these preseason results will not directly affect the way his team prepares for the new campaign – cannot deny that he would rather to have a winning warmup record as it would certainly contribute to the club having a positive locker room heading into the season opener.

While Alex Smith remains the club’s starter heading into the new term, the Chiefs must be excited about the early contributions of backup quarterback Chase Daniel, who was impressive in the Week 1 victory over the Cardinals.

Daniel went 17-of-21 for 189 yards and threw three touchdowns without an interception and avoided being sacked last week.

Smith was 6-of-10 for 42 yards and threw one interception.

The 31-year-old is expected to play himself into a good rhythm before the season gets going and his link up with star running back Jamaal Charles will again be vital in Reid’s offense.
