In other NBA scores on Friday night, there were wins for the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, Cleveland Cavaliers, LA Lakers and the Miami Heat.

But the highlight on the night without a doubt came in Oklahoma City.

It was where the sharp-shooting Durant, who shot 19 of 28 from the floor, including 5 for 9 from three-point range, became the first player to score 50-plus points in the NBA this season. The performance was also his third game with at least 50 points in the last three season.

“When you’ve got it going, I look at the bench and see how my teammates are reacting, and that just gives me an extra push,” Durant said after the Thunder (30-10) picked up the win.

As expected the fans at the Chesapeake Energy Arena were sounding their MVP candidate.

“Then, I hear the fans,” charting “MVP! MVP!” with every bucket, he said.

“As a leader, my main objective is to serve my teammates, help them out. Some nights, I’ve got to put it up, I’ve got to score.

“Some nights, I’ve got to do other things. Tonight, they found me and I was able to hit a few shots. I just tried to do as best as I can to lead the team and lead us to victory.”

Supporting Durant on the night were Serge Ibaka, who finished with 21 points and eight rebounds and Reggie Jackson, who scored 14 points.

Stephen Curry got going early with a number of three-pointers and he finished with 37 points and 11 assists, while Klay Thompson added 26 points in the defeat for the Warriors (25-16).
