(Sporting Alert) — Results and scores from the NCAA Men’s basketball tournament – Sweet 16 – games that took place on Friday night, March, 28.

Kentucky (27-10) promised to do something special in the tournament and the Wildcats are certainly living up to it after dumping defending the champions from the tournament.

The No. 8-seeded Kentucky delivered a big second half performance to upset the No. 4-seeded Louisville 74-69 and advanced to the Elite Eight.

“I told them before the game, you’ll get punched in the mouth and you’re going to taste blood,” Wildcats’ coach John Calipari said.

“You can fight or you can brace yourself for the next shot. They fought.”

In the night’s other Midwest Regional semifinal game, No. 2 seed Michigan (28-8) edged the 11th-seeded Tennessee (24-13), 73-71.

They will now face Kentucky on Sunday in search of a trip to the Final Four.

Also winning on the night were the seventh-seeded UConn (29-8), who upset No. 3 seed Iowa State (28-8), 81-76, while No. 1 seed Virginia (30-7) where beaten, 61-59 by No. 4 seed Michigan State (29-8) in their Sweet 16 game.
