BARCELONA (Sporting Alert) — Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino has left high-profiled summer recruit Neymar on the bench for tonight’s pre-season friendly clash against his former club Santos tonight for the Joan Gamper Trophy at Camp Nou.
Neymar, who recently made his debut for the Spanish champions, starts as a substitute alongside Cesc Fàbregas, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United and midfielder Alex Song.
Martino’s strong starting XI, however, includes Lionel Messi, who plays with Pedro and Alexis Sanchez in his attacking formation.
Víctor Valdés starts in goal.
The regular midfield trio Andrés Iniesta, Xavi and Sergio Busquets will dictate things in the middle, while Dani Alves and Gerard Pique start in the back line.
Meanwhile, for Santos, Walter Montillo is amongst the starters tonight, with Leandrinho, Rafael Galhardo and Leo also starting for the Brazilian side.
