(Sporting Alert) — The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks both recorded Divisional Playoff wins on Saturday and moved into respective championship games.
NFC Divisional Game Result:
Seattle Seahawks 23 (13-3), New Orleans Saints 15 (11-5)
AFC Divisional Game Result:
New England Patriots 43 (12-4), Indianapolis Colts 22 (11-5)
NEW ENGLAND 43, INDIANAPOLIS 22
LeGarrette Blount finished four touchdown runs, including a 73 yard effort for his fourth to end with 166 yards in his debut career playoff game as the New England Patriots defeated the Indianapolis Colts 43-22 and booked a place into their third successive AFC Championship game.
The effect sees Blount becoming the first player in NFL history to rush for at least 125 yards and scored four touchdowns in a postseason game.
“Once I get into the open field, they’re going to have to chase me,” Blount said after the win. “And if they catch me, they do. And if they don’t, they don’t. They usually don’t.”
Star quarterback Tom Brady finished with 13 of 25 completed passes for 198 yards. He finished, however, without a touchdown.
Andrew Luck went 20 for 41 for 331 yards in the defeat for the Colts, while finishing with four interceptions.
SEAHAWKS 23, SAINTS 15
In the day’s other game on the day, the top-seeded Seahawks beat the New Orleans Saints 23-15 and advanced to the NFC championship game.
Running Back Marshawn Lynch carried 28 times and finished with a Seahawks franchise playoff record 140 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.
The Seahawks will now face the winner of the Sunday’s clash between the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers.
