The Bears (13-0, 1-0 Big 12) dusted off Oklahoma with an impressive 26-point victory to open league play last Friday, and start as 8.5 favourites to win again at Ferrell Center here in Waco, according to the oddsmakers.

Iowa State (9-3, 1-0) rallied from a 14 point deficit to beat Texas Tech 63-56 to open Big 12 play on Friday, and has won three straight heading into this match-up.

In the win, Naz Mitrou-Long, who leads the Cyclones in scoring this season, scored 17 of his 19 total points in the second half to reach double-digit for the fifth straight game and for the 10th time this season.

Baylor is scoring just 79.3 points per game as a team, which is ranked 72nd in the nation and sixth in the Big 12.

However, the No. 2 ranked team in the AP Top 25 latest poll is allowing just 58 points per game, which is fifth in the country and No. 1 in the Big 12.

Individually, Bears junior Johnathan Motley is fourth in the Big 12 in scoring at 16.2 PPG and second in rebounding with 9.1 per battles.

Iowa State’s Nazareth Mitrou-Long is scoring 15.6 points per game, which is sixth in the Big 12, while Monte Morris is scoring 14.6 per contest, seventh in the league.

Baylor’s Al Freeman is putting out 12.2 points this season, Manu Lecomte is at 11.8, while Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. is averaging 10.7 points and pulling down 7.5 rebounds per game.

The Bears are one of three teams still undefeated entering the New Year, as they joined No. 1 Villanova and No. 7 Gonzaga.

Wednesday night is the 32nd meeting of the series between Baylor and Iowa State, with the Cyclones leading the series 17-14.

However, the Bears are 11-2 when playing at home in the series.
