However, the anticipated matchup on Saturday is the Big 12 rematch between No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 6 Kansas at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.
This clash will be a battle between the current top two teams in the conference, who are also tied with No. 10 West Virginia in the league standings.
The Jayhawks (20-4, 8-3 Big 12) took the first meeting between these two sides, 109-106 in triple-overtime in Lawrence, and the Sooners (20-3, 8-3) will be out to return the favor as the race for the regular-season conference title steams up.
Oklahoma star Buddy Hield comes into this game as one of the leading contenders for the National Player of the Year award with the senior guard averaging 25.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game this season.
Isaiah Cousins has been an important support to Hield, with the senior averaging 13.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game, while scoring 17.4 points and making 5.0 assists in the past seven contests.
Kansas, in the meantime, will look to experienced forward Perry Ellis to drive the team forward.
The senior who is shooting 53 percent from the floor this season, is averaging 16.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per battles overall this term, while he was one of the main contributors for the home side in the last meeting between these two clubs.
Ellis, who is scoring 19.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in conference action this campaign, collected 27 points and 13 rebounds for the Jayhawks in the thriller on Jan. 4.
Expect him to contribute heavily again for the visitors on Saturday.
Kansas enters Saturday’s game leading the all-time series against Oklahoma, 143-66, while the Jayhawks’ recent form against the Sooners have been very impressive as well.
When they head to Norman this weekend, Kansas will try to win their 15th meeting in the 17 clashes between the schools.
Oklahoma will take a 19-game home winning streak in this game.
Elsewhere on Saturday, No. 1 Villanova will meet St John’s at home, No. 5 Xavier will take on Butler, No. 7 Virginia faces Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium, No. 24 Texas and No. 14 Iowa State face-off in Big 12 action, while No. 15 Texas A&M travels to LSU.
