There were victories for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwovles, while the Brooklyn Nets had its five game winning streak snapped, following a 104-103 defeat to the Toronto Raptors.

At the Chesapeake Energy Arena, in Oklahoma City, Kevin Durant scored 41 points, including the game-winning jumper with 1.5 seconds left, in a battling night to lead the Thunder to a 111-109 win over the Atlanta Hawks to secure their eighth successive victory.

“I know we play a lot of games and a lot of people say January doesn’t mean anything,” said Durant, who rallied his team from a 14-point second half deficit.

“But when you’re playing this game with your heart and passion like we do, sometimes you’ve got to sit back and just enjoy it.”
