No. 1 seed Williams has been in very good form thus far at the tournament, and the American five-time champion is confident she is ready to continue her storming form in New York and secure her third consecutive US Open crown.

Victory for the American on Sunday would see her claiming her 18th Grand Slam title, an achievement that would see her joining Christine “Chris” Evert, who was the last player to win three or more successive US Open titles from 1975-78.

In addition to that, securing an 18th Grand Slam singles title would also see Williams drawing level with Evert and Martina Navratilova for fourth on the all-time list.

At the same time, the top seed faces Wozniacki of Denmark, who enters Sunday’s battle hoping to finally end her long wait for a Grand Slam top honor.

Both players revealed their respect for one another and said that regardless of the outcome, there are plans already pencilled in to have ice cream afterwards.
