Carmelo Anthony questionable for Knicks vs Kings

NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) Star forward Carmelo Anthony remains questionable for the New York Knicks NBA game against the Sacramento Kings at Sleep Train Arena on Friday night.

Anthony missed the Knicks exciting win over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night with a left knee problem he picked up in the defeat against the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day and may have to sit this one out as well.

The league’s second leading scorer this season is averaging 28.5 points per game and is eager to continue his impressive run of form in recent games.

New York are already without the likes of Rasheed Wallace, who is out with a foot injury and starting point guard Raymond Felton, out for up to 4-6 weeks with a fractured right finger.

However, Amar’e Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert are both close to making returns.

The Knicks (21-8) are 7th in the league in total points per game at 102.2 and 12th overall in points allowed per game, at 96.7.

Sacramento (9-19) has dropped seven of its last ten games, including at 109-91 defeat at Portland Wednesday night.

Lakers News: Steve Nash will be game time decision against Warriors

Oakland, California (Sporting Alert) — Steve Nash could very well feature against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night, as the Los Angeles Lakers said the guard will be a game time decision.

Nash has been out of action for almost two months now after suffering a left leg injury at the end of October, but returned to regular team practice this week.

The veteran point guard is hopeful of playing for the Lakers at Golden State tonight, but admits that he will not try to rush his return.

After taking part in back-to-back full sessions on Thursday and Friday, Nash revealed that he’s feeling much better, but the Lakers will wait until game time to make the final decision.

“We’ll see,” Nash said when asked if he would play tonight. “I’ll have to talk with everybody not only how I feel, but if fits in the big term picture.

“There’s a chance I play (Saturday), but Christmas for sure.

“If I feel good Saturday after two days of practice and what the trainers, coaches and everyone thinks about (me) playing.

“This is two days of basketball in seven weeks. It’s not a home run that I just go out in an NBA game.

“I’m going to see how it goes tomorrow and talk to everybody, but I’d say the odds are low.”
