Cleveland, OH (Sporting Alert) — Tristan Thompson grabbed a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds and led four of his teammates into double digit scoring and the Cleveland Cavaliers beat Tel Aviv Maccabi 107-80 in a preseason game at Quicken Loans Arena on Sunday.
LeBron James, making a return to Cleveland after opting not to re-sign with the Miami Heat at the end of last season, played 20-minutes and finished with 12 points.
James sat out the entire second half of the game.
New recruit Kevin Love had 11 rebounds, eight points and four assists for the Cavaliers in the win.
Star point guard Kyrie Irving was the top scorer for the new look Cavs with 16 points, Dion Waiters added with 15 and center Anderson Varejao pulled down 15 rebounds.
Sylven Landesberg ended with a game-high 23 points to lead Tel Aviv Maccabi, as new Cavaliers coach David Blatt got a win over his former team.
Jeremy Pargo added 18 points and Alex Tyus scored 13 in the defeat.
