LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Tottenham recalled trio Jan Vertonghen, Kyle Walker and Nacer Chadli to the starting lineup for tonight’s Barclays Premier League clash with Swansea City at White Hart Lane.
The three were rested for the comfortable win in the Europa League in midweek, but returned to the team for the league encounter.
Red hot Roberto Soldado once again pilot the attack, with England striker Jermain Defoe starting on the bench.
Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Mousa Dembele and Michael Dawson are in the starting team for Spurs as well.
As expected their is no Gareth Bale, who looks well set to be joining Real Madrid.
“They are a difficult team to play against,” Tottenham boss Andre Villas Boas said.
“They come in to the match on the back of a bad result against Manchester United (a 4-1 defeat).
“They have the comfort of having played at home (in the Europa League) on Thursday while we had a long trip back so I expect them to be completely different to the game against United.
“They will come out very, very strong.”
For Swansea City, who are coming off a big win in the Europa League in midweek as well, Wilfried Bony was left on the bench, with Michu and Pablo Hernandez both in the attack.
