LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Fernando Torres has kept his place in the starting line for Chelsea in today’s English Premier League London derby clash at Tottenham after impressing the manager in midweek.
Torres got the nod ahead of summer recruit Samuel Eto’o, who has been starting in the league since his move in the closing part of the transfer window.
Eto’o is on the bench, but there is no place for Demba Ba.
Also returning to the bench is Juan Mata, as Jose Mourinho recalls Oscar, with Ramires, John Obi Mikel, Frank Lampard and Eden Hazard all starting as well.
Defender David Luiz also returns to the Chelsea starting line-up and plays alongside John Terry.
For Tottenham, striker Roberto Soldado, as expected has been recalled to the starting team after being on the bench in the Capital One Cup in midweek.
This means that despite scoring twice in midweek, England forward Jermain Defoe has to settle for a place amongst the substitutes.
Paulinho, Mousa Dembele and Christian Eriksen start as well, with Hugo Lloris returning between the sticks.
