Tom Brady threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns as the Patriots (11-3) pulled away in the second half for their seventh win in a row at home and ninth in the last 10 games overall.

“We didn’t play very well in the first half,” New England coach Bill Belichick told reporters after the game.

“We just took some not very good football and made it worse and then were able to do things a lot better in the second half.”

At the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Andrew Luck and the Colts (10-4) beat the Houston Texans (7-7), 17-10 to clinched their second-straight AFC South division title.

Luck went 18 of 34 on completed passes for 187 yards and two touchdown for Indianapolis, which according to the stats gurus, improved to 13-0 all-time at home against the Houston Texans, which had a two game win streak snapped.

Also sealing a division title on Sunday were the Denver Broncos (11-3).

Star quarterback Peyton Manning battled through a thigh problem and flu-like symptoms to complete 14 of 20 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Broncos to a 22-10 victory over the San Diego Chargers (8-6) and win the AFC West title for the fourth straight year.

Defeat to the Seahawks on Sunday and Detroit Lions’ (10-4) 16-14 win over Minnesota, meant that Jim Harbaugh’s 49ers, who reached the NFC title games three successive years, missed out at playing in the postseason this term.

Elsewhere on Sunday Kansas City (8-4) defeated Oakland Raiders 31-13 to stay second in the AFC West, while the Carolina Panthers (5-8-1), playing without star QB Cam Newton, who was in an accident during the week, edged the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-12), 19-17.
